Service Description

HLTAID013 – Provide First Aid in Remote or Isolated Site Course Description The HLTAID013 Provide First Aid in Remote or Isolated Site course is designed for individuals who work, travel or participate in activities in remote environments where access to emergency medical assistance may be delayed or limited. Delivered by experienced trainers with backgrounds in military operations, law enforcement, emergency response and operational first aid, this course goes beyond conventional first aid training by incorporating practical skills and techniques informed by Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) principles and real-world operational experience. Participants will develop the knowledge and practical skills required to assess and manage medical emergencies, serious injuries and life-threatening trauma in challenging environments. Particular emphasis is placed on catastrophic bleeding control, casualty assessment, prolonged casualty care, ongoing monitoring, emergency communications and evacuation planning. Key training areas include: Management of catastrophic bleeding, including tourniquet application, wound packing and pressure dressings. Systematic trauma assessment using the MARCH framework. Management of chest injuries, fractures, shock and hypothermia. Snakebite management, pressure immobilisation and environmental emergencies. Casualty monitoring, reassessment and extended care when emergency services are delayed. Multiple casualty management and triage principles. Remote-area communications, emergency signalling and evacuation planning. Casualty handover using structured communication methods such as IMIST. Practical scenarios designed to develop decision-making, confidence and effective emergency response skills. Our Training Approach TOR Training and Consulting Pty Ltd places a strong emphasis on realistic, scenario-based learning that develops genuine practical capability rather than simply meeting assessment requirements. Drawing on extensive operational experience, our trainers provide participants with the opportunity to develop skills that may prove critical when professional medical assistance is not immediately available. This course is particularly suited to outdoor enthusiasts, hunters, four-wheel-drive operators, remote workers, agricultural workers, emergency responders and anyone who may be required to provide first aid in isolated environments.
